Emperor
Qin's Terra-cotta Museum |

Emperor Qin's Terra-cotta Museum
opened for public in 1979. The museum is decorated with
verdant trees, blooming flowers and carpets of green grass.
The scenery in the museum is elegant and delightful. Three
main buildings of the museum named Pit 1,Pit 2 and Pit
3 were constructed on their original sites in different
periods of time. They are the miracle in Chinese history.
More excavations are being done to the buried army known
as a "wonder of the world".

Emperor Qin's Tomb |

It is 30 kilometres to Xi'an and
5 kilometres to Li Shan Bei Lu. The huge tomb is of gigantic
scale and grandiose decor. This is one of the greatest
archaeological discoveries in the world. The tomb has
a total of 56.25 square kilometres in area. Today the
mound still stands 76 meters high. The layout of its grounds
followed Xianyang, the capital of Qin, with inner wall
of 3840 metres and outer wall of 6210 metres. The mausoleum
is located in the southwest of the inner city.

Big Goose Pagodas |

The Big Goose Pagoda (Dayan Pagoda)
in the Great Ci'en Temple of Xi'an was first built in
652. In the shape of a simple and well-proportioned square
pyramid, the Dayan Pagoda is a 64.1-meter-tall, seven-story
gray brick structure with a distinctive national style.
It is also a solemn-looking masterpiece of ancient Buddhist
architecture. The Lesser Wild Goose Pagoda (Xiaoyan Pagoda)
in the Jianfu Temple of Xi'an was another pagoda opened
for tourists. |

Shanxi Historical Museum |

Shanxi Historical Museum is located
at the crossover of Xiao Zhai Dong Road and Cui Hua Road
in Xian. It is in elegant decor and well preserved.
The Museum has a total area of 11600 square meters. Different
exhibition halls are opened for public. It displays rare
relics of Neolithic pottery and jewellery, Zhou bronzes,
Qin architectural material and Han pottery figurines etc.

Old City Wall of Xi'an |

The Old City Wall
of Xi'an was built during the early years of the Ming
Dynasty. It is the only city wall completely preserved
in China. The wall is 12-14 meters wide at the top and
15-18 meters wide at the bottom. It is a typical architecture
in China and symbol of Xi'an.

Famen Temple |

The Famen Temple is in the south
of Fufeng. It is a well-known Buddhist establishment
where the sariras of Sakyamuni are preserved. It was
first built during the Eastern Han Dynasty (25 -220
AD). Four sariras attributed to Sakyamuni were found
in an eight-layered container, along with a rare collection
of 2,400 precious cultural relics, including Tang-dynasty
imperial gold and silver utensils, glassware, porcelains,
pearls and precious stones and textiles. It is named
as the 'Royal Monastery'.

Qianling Tom |

Qianling Tomb is in the northwest
of Xi'an. It is the tomb of Emperor Tang Gaozong and Empress
Wuzetian. The tomb was built on the Liang Mountain which
is 1,047.9 meters high. It acts as the watchtower of the
mountain and looks very grand. The Qianling Tomb is the
unique tomb in which two emperors of China were buried.

Small Goose Pagoda |

The Xiaoyan Pagoda (Small Goose
Pagoda) in the Jianfu Temple of Xi'an is a 43.3-meter-high
13-layer square structure of bricks with folded eaves.
Its width diminishes progressively from bottom to top
as its outline is reduced with smooth and tasteful lines
as a work of art.

Forest of Stone Steles

Forest of Stone Steles Museum,
with the oldest and richest collection of steles in China,
is located in the south of Xi'an. The forest of steles
was initially established in the second year of Yuan You
period of Song Dynasty (1087 A.D). With the successive
collection of steles in the Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming and
Qing dynasties. It gradually expanded in the early Qing
Dynasty. It was first called "Forest of Steles". The museum
is a focus of the works of celebrated calligrapher. In
March 1961, the Forest of Steles was decreed by the stated
Council to be given special protection. |

Mount Huashan |

Mount Huashan is one of the famous
Chinese Five Sacred Mountains. It is located at the south
of Huayin City, famed as its breathtaking splendor. It
backs on Mount Qinling and faces the Yellow River.
The 2,200-meter Mount Huashan looks like a flower. As
Shaohua Hill is located at the west of Mount Huashan,
it was formally called Old Mount Huashan. The mountain
is very rugged and beautiful with many historic sites
and famous scenic spots. |
