Shenzhen Nobel Merchant Golf Club boasts an ideal geographic location. It is situated on the “goldené section of Shennan Thoroughfare, linking Shenzhen and Shekou. It overlooks Bijia Hill in the north and Shenzhen Bay in the south, adjacent to the picturesque tourist resort. The club is designed by Mr. Lee Watts – a world-renowned golf course architect. It covers an area of 50 hectares and is the only 18-hole illuminated course in Shenzhen. The exquisite and novel design of the course with a full-bodied cosmopolitan undertone, places premium to water ponds and fairways. Walking through the most changeful fairways is various handicap requirements. The 6,000-yard par 72 golf course, the 18th hole is the most challenging whereas the 5the and 18th are the longest 5-shot holes. Novice or experienced, you can always find an arena to stretch your ability to the fullest extent. The front nine is purpose-built for beginners to learn the tricks of the trade while low handicapped golfers can boost their confidence by a quick succession of successes. Taking the 7th hole as an example, guests can see the man-made waterfall overhead, gently swaying willows, turquoise ponds and the lush greens. The picture would be more attractive in the night when the course is bright lit. This 132-yard 3-shot short-game hole with the green encircled by water and with bunkers in the front is a real test of the teeing golfer’s sense of distance, direction and accuracy. The back nine, with long and wide fairways, strategically designed greens, water hazards and bunkers, is a real challenge to even professional golfers. The tricky hazards, like stealthy killers, are always lurking there.
